Gallipoli 2015 - 6th Nov 2012

Gallipoli 2015 On 25 April 2015 we commemorate the centenary of the Anzac landings at Gallipoli in Turkey.

Veterans Affairs  want your views on the best way to manage a ballot system to allocate attendance passes for New Zealanders to attend the 2015 commemorative Anzac Day services in Turkey, by completing the online survey.

It is estimated that up to 40,000 New Zealanders and Australians are interested in attending, which would significantly exceed the capacity of the small commemorative site. We need to make sure commemorations are respectful and carried out in a safe and secure environment.

The Governments of New Zealand and Australia will each run a ballot system to allocate their own attendance passes. The passes are free but those allocated a pass will pay all their own travel, accommodation, and other costs. Decisions about how the ballot system will work will be available on this website and through the media in early 2013.

Read the Discussion Paper to find out the issues and possible ways to allocate the passes. (available as pdf (1.26mbs) or html)  Go to

Complete the online survey by 25 November 2012 to have your say and help shape decisions.
