Free Macular Degeneration seminars - 9th Jun 2014


Macular Degeneration New Zealand (MDNZ) is a charitable trust with a vision to reduce the incidence and impact of macular degeneration in New Zealand. MDNZ are currently organising a series of 10 free public seminars around New Zealand, commencing on 24 May in Christchurch.

Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in New Zealand and 1 in 7 people over 50 will have some evidence of it, while 1 in 4 people over 80 will have some vision loss.

The seminars are free, and will be run by leading opthalmologist specialists. The seminars aim to share the latest information on research and treatments and the management and impact of living with this progressive eye disease. They are suitable for members of the public (with or without MD), their carers and families, and local health professionals.

The seminars run from 10.00 - 11.30am:
• 24 May: Christchurch
•7 June: Hamilton
•12 July: Palmerston North
•26 July: Wellington
•16 August: Dunedin
•23 August: New Plymouth
•13 September: Gisborne
•4 October: Tauranga
•1 November: Napier
•15 November: Auckland
